Hello, survivors!!!

We’re excited to roll out the

Halloween Update v0.4.13, is packed with spooky new content and important fixes. This update introduces tons of new features for both the Main game and the Demo, along with performance improvements and bug fixes.

Below is a breakdown of everything included in this update:

🧟 Content Additions:

New Blind Mutant AI: This new enemy only reacts to sound and hits much harder than zombies. Watch your step and be super quiet!

Meat Piles (Zombie spawners that need to be destroyed) have been added to both DemoLand and MainLevel. These will now be a key part of your survival challenge!

New Skeleton Zombies: Skeleton zeds have been added to the rad zed, armored zed, and random zombie pools.

Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Pie Slices: Seasonal food items have been added. Yum! A Fall classic, that warms your heart when you’re starving in the apocalypse.

New Foliage: 3 new types have been added to celebrate the season—Carved Pumpkin Patches, Single Door Cobwebs, and Double Door Cobwebs. Expect pumpkins and cobwebs across the map, with certain areas keeping them permanently (caves, farms, etc.).

Round 1 Localizations: Mandarin, Japanese, Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, French & Arabic.

Demo Update: DemoLand has received a fresh update, that brings many new features that the main game provides. They too, get to experience the Halloween vibe as we celebrate Scream Fest.

Demo Vehicle Trader: A new vehicle trader has been added to DemoLand, offering a variety of vehicles.
Full Backtrack to Demo: Added our full backtrack to the demo.

New Map Player Marker: Players now have a more precise marker on the map.

🔨 Bug Fixes:

Two Pairs of Hands Bug: Added insurance to ensure there will never be two hands displayed simultaneously.

Zombie Attack Bug: Fixed an issue where zombies would stop attacking the player after chasing them.

LOD Fixes: Several meshes (truck with cargo, tree stump, etc.) with incorrect LODs rendering into triangles have been corrected.

🔧 Performance and Quality of Life Updates:

Server Zombie Spawn Limits: Server hosts can now limit zombie spawns per player (default 10 zombies/AI per player). This should significantly improve performance for all players.

AI Spawn Cooldowns: Increased minimum and maximum time values for AI Spawn Cooldowns. After an AI spawn point is used, it will take 10-33 minutes to reactivate it. This helps reduce constant zombie spawn waves.

In-Game Save File Creation: The game now always creates a save file when launched if one with the same name doesn’t already exist. This change also applies to dedicated servers and fixes some edge case log-off issues.

Video Settings Fix: The in-game video settings button is now correctly linked to the proper widget.
Floating Melee Weapon Fix: Fixed a bug where slower framerates could cause floating melee weapons when switching from a gun.

Gunfire Sound Fix: Fixed muzzle location not being set properly, affecting gunfire sound positioning for the AI.

🖥️ Visual & Animation Enhancements:

New Animation Cues: Improved and added new animations across the board for a more polished experience.

Resource Shrink Effect: A visual effect was added when harvesting resources. You’ll now see resources shrinking as you gather them.

Tree Jostle Effect: Trees will now jostle when hit with an axe, adding more immersion to resource gathering.

Explosion Effect for Meat Piles: Added explosion effect for destroying meat piles for added impact.

This update is a huge leap forward in refining the zombie experience and celebrating the spooky season. As always, your feedback is invaluable to us. Please keep reporting any issues or bugs you encounter!

Happy Halloween and good luck out there, survivors! 🎃

Howdy survivors!
I'm Dev Ear and I mainly handle the gameplay loop, web development, and Discord! I have also been surviving online FPS games for 10+ years. I have probably briefly touched every survival fps game you can think of.
The current survival fps drought means that it’s time for our team to step in and create what everyone has been waiting for!
Besides game development, I like making music and every now and then touching some grass. Since release, it's been nothing but ZSGO however. Can't wait to see what the game evolves into!
See you all in ZSGO!
